Mary Lou Benard

Mary Lou Benard passed in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 4, 2024 surrounded by friends and family. "Lou" served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers for about thirty-five years. Lou chose medical assistance in death, transitioning with courage, care and heart. Lou is survived by her son James Benard, daughter Marie Benard, sister Jean Banas, brother Murph Kolipinski, as well as several nieces and nephews she deeply adored and admired.

She spent her last several years spending summers at her home in East Hampton and the rest of the year residing in Santa Fe, where she loved to write, paint, spend time in Nature and enjoy her son's cooking. She will be buried in a private ceremony in Santa Fe, NM.
