LISA MICHELLE SALAZAR
NOVEMBER 22, 1976 – MARCH 4, 2025
Lisa Salazar (48) unexpectedly passed away on March 4, 2025 at Christus St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe, NM. Lisa was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on November 22, 1976 to James (Jim) L. Salazar and Dodi Duran.
Lisa joined the Air Force in January 2000. While serving her country at Nellis Air Force Base, she received numerous medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons. She was trained as an EMT and a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She was honorably discharged in January 2006. After leaving the Air Force she continued her career in the medical field serving her communities in Fresno, CA and in Santa Fe, NM.
Lisa loved spending time with her beautiful daughter, Megan (Kempf), who she insisted was the best thing she ever did in life. She loved watching movies (especially scary ones) with her mom and hanging out at the VFW and the Fraternal Order of Eagles with her life partner, Paul (Tapia) who she loved so very much. She had an incredible singing voice and was once invited to sing the National Anthem for the Officer’s Rank Pinning Ceremony while stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. If there was a karaoke machine around, you bet she was going to sing several songs. She was an amazing cook, a fact she kept well hidden from her mom for many years for she wanted her mom to cook for HER! Lisa was a daddy’s girl and rightfully so; there was nothing her daddy would deny her in life. Lisa was a beautiful, smart, and loyal soul who loved life and lived it on her own terms. She loved that she had an opportunity to serve her country and was a proud veteran.
Lisa is preceded in death by her loving father, Jim Salazar, her paternal grandparents, Mabel and Phillip Salazar, maternal grandparents, Angie and Carlos Rodriguez, her uncle Angelo Rodriguez, her aunt Shirley and uncle Michael Salazar. Lisa is survived by her beautiful daughter Megan (Kempf), her mother Dodi Duran (Floyd), her brothers Vincent Salazar and Daniel Salazar (Amanda), her partner Paul Tapia, her uncle Rick Salazar (Karen), her aunt Carla Rodriguez (James), her great aunt Grace Vigil (Henry), her nephews Antonio, Johnathan and Niko Salazar, her niece Sophia Smith, her sister-in-law Melinda Garcia (Jess), and her lovely cousin, Linda Salazar.
