Josephine Anne "Jo Anne" Thompson Murphy

March 4, 1957 — March 29, 2024

Aged 67, longtime state Human Services Department worker before retirement in 2022, Jo Anne graduated in 1975 from Highland High School in Albuquerque, where she excelled in swim team and Junior Achievement. Before state employment and marriage, she was employed by GTE Lenkurt. Preceded in death by grandparents, Anna and Lesley Thompson, Joseph and Josephine Mitchell; parents, James and Patricia Thompson; brothers, Bruce and Edward Thompson. Survived by her son, Russell Sandlin; aunt, Sally-Alice Thompson; brother Andrew (Colleen) Thompson; sisters, Virginia and Grace Thompson, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
