Frank William "Chip" Meyers III, born May 19, 1946, in Abilene, Texas, passed away on October 4th, 2024, at the age of 78. He is survived by his beloved wife and love of his life of 31 years, Deb Meyers, and their son, Frank William "CJ" Meyers IV. Chip was the son of Frank and Merlaine “Bitsy” Meyers. He graduated from and played tennis for Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas in 1964. Chip was very proud of winning Cooper High School's first ever District title in any sport when Chip and Ronnie Fulwiler won the District tennis doubles title in 1961, as well as being the first four-year letterman in Cooper history.
He then attended Baylor University where he played collegiate tennis and earned a bachelor’s degree in history, reflecting his passion for both sports and academics. In 1968, Chip joined the Navy, serving for nine years and completing two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Oriskany, flying F8 Crusader single seat fighter jets, and earning the rank of Lieutenant. His military service was marked by courage and dedication, showcasing his commitment to his country.
Chip liked nothing more than wearing his VF 191 F8 Crusader ballcap and striking up a conversation with fellow veterans to reminisce and share a story. After leaving the Navy, Chip transitioned into a successful career in real estate beginning in California and then in Albuquerque, New Mexico where Chip and Deb were set up on a blind date that led to their marriage in 1993. In 1996, on Chip’s 50th birthday, he and Deb welcomed Frank “CJ” IV the light of his life. Chip imparted all his passions and interests to CJ, and they enjoyed and cherished all the times they spent together. He managed and led several real estate sales teams before moving to Houston, Texas, in 1996 to start his own real estate consulting company. He then established the Meyers School of Real Estate, where he devoted himself to teaching continuing education and mentoring others in the field.
Chip and Deb later moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where they enjoyed the beauty of the landscape for the past nine years. An avid outdoorsman, Chip cherished hunting, fishing, and any activities that allowed him to connect with nature, spending time with Deb, CJ, his close extended family, and friends. Family was very important to Chip, and there was nothing more precious than the cherished times at the beloved Meyers family cabin near Creede, Colorado. In addition to his wife and son, Chip is survived by his sister Merlaine Peede (L.F. “Butch”), and brothers Rick (Vickie), Scott (Amy), and David (Lisa). He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, grand nephews and nieces and cousins, and very dear friends who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his father (Frank Jr.), mother (Merlaine “Bitsy”), and brother (Mike).
