Catalina Marie Ortiz (Katie)

July 24, 1929 – November 25, 2024

Catalina M. Ortiz (lovingly known as Katie) was born on July 24, 1929, and passed away peacefully in her own home at the age of 95 on November 25, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents Jose F. Martinez and Elefia Baca-Martinez, daughter Cathy Ortiz, son Michael Ortiz, brothers Augustine and Paul Martinez, sisters Benita Rodriguez and Ramona Igalo, her grandson Daniel Garcia and her great grandsons Emilio Tapia and Manuel Ortiz Jr. She is survived by her sons: Tony Herrera and Marcos Herrera and wife Marcella, grandchildren: Lauren, Phillip and wife Michelle, Marcos, Anna, Sandy and husband Donald, Victoria and husband Patricio, Michael, Jerry, Carmelita, Manuel and April, great-grandchildren: Isabella, Isaac, Breanna, Derrick Jr., Dominic, Aaron, Camila, Abraham, Angelique, Isiah, Xavier, Aliyah, Alicia, Daniella Catalina, Shiann, Eric, Isaac, Michael, Anntanette, Patricio Jr. and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. After her retirement from the State of New Mexico she loved working at the Senior Center in Santa Fe where she had many great friends. She enjoyed going to the casinos and taking trips with the Senior Center and with her family. Katie will be greatly missed by her family, friends and everyone that knew and loved her. The family would like to Thank her nieces and nephews for always keeping her involved in the community and taking her to family events and all the fun places she wanted to go to. We would especially like to Thank her son Tony and her granddaughter Lauren for caring for Katie in her own home at the end of her life. A Celebration of Life will be held December 29, 2024 from 12pm to 4pm at 1252 Calle de Comercio Santa Fe, NM 87507. Rosary and mass to be announced.
