In the loving company of his children, Alfonso J. Padilla peacefully entered the gates of Heaven, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith on March 3, 2025. He was a guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
Alfonso's life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience. Born on May 29, 1937, in Santa Fe, NM, he was welcomed into a family anchored by the values instilled by his parents, Francisco and Rita Rodriguez Padilla. He was not just a son but a dedicated brother, striving to support and provide for his siblings during their formative years.
His journey took a significant turn when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, a chapter that filled him with pride and discipline. Upon returning home, he met the love of his life, Helen , who became his lifelong dance partner for an incredible 57 years of marriage. Their bond was filled with joy, laughter, faith and mutual support.
Alfonso's professional life was marked by his commitment and talent, particularly as the head chef at The Chez Renne Night Club. For 18 years, he poured his creativity and hard work into his role, ensuring that every meal was crafted with care. Beyond his culinary skills, he was a jack of all trades, taking on various jobs in painting, maintenance, and gardening. His effort to cultivate beautiful roses and flowers was not just a hobby but a loving gesture for Helen, a reflection of the care he had for her and their home.
Family was at the core of Alfonso's existence. He worked tirelessly for their well-being, always prioritizing their needs. His caring soul and big heart made him someone who would go out of his way to help others, often putting his family's concerns above his own.
He is survived by his children Judy (Ernest) Ortiz, Trish (Loren) Martinez, Alfonso Jr. (Sally) Padilla, Joseph (Salome) Padilla. Grandchildren Thomasinia (Antonio), Ernest Jon, Julian (Vandora), Estevan, Alenna, Arianna, Raquel, Andrea, and Dawn.
